80 Christmases of Nothing Better in the Market
Artist John C. Howard Date 1952-1959 Medium Magazine illustration Category Illustration

For over 80 Christmases, there has been nothing better in the market. Old Forester didn't just make a holiday ad — they made a LEGACY ad. John C. Howard's gorgeous Christmas wreath frames a winter wonderland, while the bourbon sits quietly in the corner like a distinguished uncle at dinner.

This a rare case where the advertiser gives a shout out to the Illustrator, and in this case the originator of the wreath (unsure if this was a physical wreath or a collaboration with Constance Spry, who gets credit for bringing the wreath). +1 if you can find it (might have to zoom in to see it.)

Sometimes he sneaks in his signature in a n unexpected location. if there is a painting inside of the illustration, often he will put his signature in the corner of the inner painting.
